Police are investigating an attempted abduction in Noble Park last night.

Detectives from Dandenong have been told a 23-year-old Noble Park woman was walking along Railway Parade when she was approached by an unknown male about 8.50pm.

It is believed he asked the victim for the time and then grabbed her on the arm, pushing an unknown item into her side.

The man allegedly stated to the woman that he was armed with a weapon.

The offender then led the woman a short distance down the street to a parked vehicle, described as a small dark green, four door sedan.

The man attempted to push the victim into the vehicle but the woman managed to escape and run away.

The man is described as being Caucasian, aged between 35 to 40 years old, 165cm tall and medium build.

He has short dark hair and a short goatee beard, and was wearing a dark coloured bomber style jacket and tracksuit pants.

Police are appealing for any witnesses, in particular three males, believed to be aged in their mid 20s, who assisted the victim after the incident.

Police have released a FACE image of a man they wish to speak to.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or http://www.crimestoppers.com.au.
