Occupy Melbourne intends setting up camp indefinitely at Treasury Gardens from Saturday.

About 250 members of the anti-capitalist movement met for three hours outside the State Library in what was described as a General Assembly.

The mostly young crowd could not decide where to meet on Saturday for their march to the gardens, with some speakers saying they should not disrupt traffic.

Finally they opted for getting to Treasury Gardens under their own steam.

They also decided against any disruption of the Queen’s visit on Wednesday.

One speaker, identified as Jeff and in charge of logistics, said they would not be applying for a permit from the Melbourne City Council to set up camp in the park.

The gathering on Tuesday was well behaved and was also attended by a large police presence.

Another speaker encouraged those who were dragged, hurt or arrested at the City Square eviction to detail their circumstances in order to take some legal action
